The History

Sexualizing Women in Sports

"Written by U.S. Representative Patsy Mink and passed by Congress in 1972, it declared, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity..." (Liang)

Throughout History

Just a century ago was the first Women Olympic Games, it wouldn’t be until the passage of Title IX of the Education Act in 1972 that women were eventuallyallowed equal opportunity in education and in sport. Female athletes have attempted to introduce new views on strength and sexuality into society, but they ultimately only get a traditional and a very restrictive patriarchal society.

My Vision

As women in sports become normalized, a few negative things come along with that. Women are looked down on in almost everything they do in this world, as it is getting better, when it comes to sports it is not. It is time to help make equality for all women in all aspects of sports.
